SIR Annual Powwow
The Annual SIR Powwow is in honor of our Ancestors, Elders & Veterans, for all of the sacrifices they made so that we may live. The Powwow is proudly sponsored by the Susanville Indian Rancheria and our local Community. The event offers a family-friendly, drug and alcohol-free environment for the entire community.
A Cultural Gathering that Strengthens Our Community
The Annual Susanville Indian Rancheria Pow-Wow is a gathering that reflects many important aspects of Native American society. Honoring our Elders and Veterans at this gathering reinforces the values of working together as a family and bonding as a community. It is a place where our young people are given the opportunity to experience to the language, values, traditions, and spirituality of our ancestors. As the drum carries the heartbeat of the Indian nation and Mother Earth, it serves to call the spirits and nations together. The dances have a strong personal and spiritual dimension.

The regalia worn by the dancers serves as a means of expressing their personal artistic vision, which reflects their lives, feelings, interests, family, and spiritual quest. The dances allow Tribal Members to represent their tribes, communities or cultural groups sharing their knowledge of culture and customs, communication skills, poise and cultural talent.
